Fans arriving at the Thomas & Mack Center on Wednesday for the UNLV basketball team’s season opener against Southern might notice something different.
And it won’t only be the Rebels’ revamped roster that is expected to challenge for a NCAA Tournament berth that catches their eye.
A new floor was recently installed at the arena, according to photos shared this morning on social media by the program. The design includes a red border, Runnin’ Rebels are each baseline and a gigantic UNLV in the middle.
It replaces a look that paid homage to the Strip and debuted in 2017. A gray Strip skyline, with many of the Resort Corridor’s notable buildings, anchored the bottom of the old look.
The university didn’t say how much the new floor cost or why they made the change.
